    The Glasgow Society of Lady Artists was founded in by eight female students of the Glasgow School of Art with the aim of according due recognition to women in the field of art. It has been described by Jude Burkhauser as "the first residential club in Scotland run by and for women". In the early days of the club, they met at Wellington Street, Glasgow.
